i've been through some dark times so far in my life...
and have gained enough perspective now to come out the other side. This too, like so many things in life may change, but I am better equipped today to deal with my demons than I have in my entire life. This is both good and freeing. But I am still learning and deepening, and I will keep learning, which this space — through writing and expressing — helps me continue to do.
Through my music project Lady Lazarus and through sharing my art and writing, I’ve been able to heal myself and grow and be the beneficiary of bridging that seemingly wide chasm between myself and others. Kind people have also shared with me from time to time that they’ve been moved or helped by what I’ve created and shared, and this brings me so much joy. I save every word.
So, it's my intention to make this a space to connect more deeply with you. And to make this a place for you to find solace, comfort, wisdom, a good laugh, something beautiful, something that hopefully touches your heart, and helps you along the way.
Let’s start here.
“In a Dark Time”
By Theodore Roethke
In a dark time, the eye begins to see,
I meet my shadow in the deepening shade;
I hear my echo in the echoing wood—
A lord of nature weeping to a tree.
I live between the heron and the wren,
Beasts of the hill and serpents of the den.
What’s madness but nobility of soul
At odds with circumstance? The day’s on fire!
